I had a wonderful evening in this delightful and simple little restaurant! Though they were expecting a party of 30 and understaffed by their own admission, it was not at all apparent as I was seated and served promptly with one of the most delicious meals I've had this trip - and if I could have licked the plate I would have (but the other patrons may have been disturbed by this and the remnants that would have remained in my beard, I'm afraid). The wine-infused braised beef shoulder was as tender and flavourful as I've ever had, balanced perfectly with the thinly sliced potato and soft vegetables. I could have happily had another plate, but had instead a delicious, freshly baked dessert. I'll definitely be coming back and would gladly recommend a visit! 7/5 stars!
We just dined at Alte Welt paying with a tour operator coupon for a three course menu. One of the saddest eating out experience ever. We had as appetizer a plain salad and as main course a mountain of white rice with some boiled chicken breast in a sort of cream and thyme sauce. All sitting in a separate corner from the other customers (eating normal food) with unused chairs, broomsticks and empty beer barrels. Personally I would had paid an extra to be treated as anyone else.
The customer was polite and dessert not of our taste, but at least a proper dessert.
Beautiful authentic restaurant. If you want to immerse yourself in a truly full Austrian experience this restaurant is highly recommended. All the dishes are excellent and delicious. Perhaps it can get a bit too loud at times, but I would say that’s part of the experience!
good simple food
friendly service
inside the cellar it can get get loud very quickly, bad acoustic
Absolutely honest restaurant. Excellent and tasty food. Rarely to see such a fantastic staff.
No card payment accepted here, I had to pay a 3€ fee to get cash (20€) from an ATM in front.
Good dishes cooked home-style, but the card payment thing is unacceptable in 2022.
Although food looked promising and was good, I couldn't enjoy it due to a rat we saw running in the garden. It stayed under our table and we needed to move. It was anxious. The chef wasn't very polite in giving us a discount (he didn't bother we had to endure this), we needed to ask for that later that evening.
Hidden, cosy place in the heart of Linz. Sadly cash only?!
